Susan Williams-Ellis opened a gift shop in the Italianate Village of Portmeirion in Wales during the 1960’s and began selling china that she had designed herself to compliment the village. With her reputation for originality, her china soon became collectable, leading to the acquisition of two small pottery firms in Stoke-on-Trent in the early 1960’s. In 1972 she designed Botanic Garden, which soon became a world wide best seller. Portmeirion regularly produces new tableware patterns, some of which are now designed by Susan’s daughters. The Botanic Garden design is based on antique botanical illustrationsand consists of tableware, cookware and a stunning new range of hand-painted crystal glassware. The Pomona china collection, named after the goddess of fruit, features eight individual fuit motifs re-created from nineteenth century illustration plates. Caring for your Portmeirion tableware:
